“Buddhism for Beginners" by Ven. Chodron

The most important qualities necessary to live harmoniously with others are friendliness and genuine concern for others. The more we develop these internal qualities, the more they will automatically be reflected in our behavior and speech. Other people relate to and respect these qualities more than our sharing their views about such topics as intoxicants, the death penalty, and TV shows. If we are friendly, happy, and compassionate people, we will get along with others well. - From “Buddhism for Beginners" by Ven. Chodron

Ven Thubten Chodron has the most kind and loving energy within the Dharma world.  She brings a unique approach to teaching the Dharma wrapped in light hearted conversation on Youtube and via direct instruction.

HAPPY DAKINI DAY FROM THE YOGINI PROJECT!

Kurukulle, also known as Red Tara, is said to be a female emanation of Amitabha.

"She has four arms because of the four immeasurable states of mind, namely, love, compassion, joy, and equanimity. She holds an arrow stretched on a bow entwined with flowers and leaves because she can give rise to thoughts of desire in the minds of others. In her other two hands she holds the hook that attracts and summons them into her presence and the noose by which she binds them to her will. Both of these implements enable her to catch those of us who have strayed from the path of the Dharma."

Read more about her adornments and enlightened qualities here: www.theyoginiproject.org/yoginis-her-story/female-deities#tab-id-6

Art print of this beautiful image of Kurukulle is available at: www.dakiniasart.org/shop/kurukulle-detail-e-images-enlightenment/

Donald Trump enlightened all sentient beings and brought them to the next level of spiritual evolution.

Donald Trump enlightened all sentient beings and brought them to the next level of spiritual evolution. Not sure if that was his intention or not (lol); but that was the way it had to be. He is the comical light side which inspires everyone to examine themselves; and the sign of old karmic patterns being swept away. I always knew this, as I am a deeply intuitive person, and saw the underlying meaning; and need for a change in this direction. The awakening brought about by Donald Trump (for both those who like and dislike him as well as those neutral and non-American) is a very good thing indeed; but many are still stuck in the old ways, and cannot see the utter failure of those old ways for the vast majority. Some people are so ostentatious that they cause everyone to, eventually, take a long hard look in the mirror; and the president is one of them. Perhaps it is the fact that hypocrisy became the norm over the last decade, or that over that same decade, virtue signaling became confused with true morality, or that Trump's very existence as president exposes all this as an 'emperor wears no clothes' charade which bothers his detractors the most; as it undermines their hitherto comfortable bubbles of self-justification; and requires them to actually examine their own attitudes and biases. Much could be said. In any case, it's been a pretty surreal show, and a grand display of genuine karmic purification on a mass level: For those who have the eyes to see.  -by Erick Tsiknopoulos

By the power of circumstance,
one moon appears through time as large or small.
By the power of needs,
one lama arises in different disguises.
By the power of vessels of water,
one moon appears in myriad reflections.
By the power of minds,
one lama appears as many.
By the power of clouds,
one moon is bright or dark.
By the power of concepts,
one lama appears as good or bad.
By the power of karma,
one moon seems to comfort or menace.
By the power of thought,
one lama arouses faith or disdain.
By the power of day or night,
one moon rises and sets.
In order to benefit beings,
one lama seems to come and go.

Expressing Whatever is Pure and Spontaneous in our Heart ...... 💟
Sometimes we have a positive thought and are moved by an altruistic motivation to benefit others, but the response is not what we had hoped for. People might not accept our offer of help. We ourselves might feel our capacity was not adequate to the task, or we might be left with the feeling that our virtue lacked strength. However, when it comes to art, there are no such problems: for example, when children make drawings, they are not concerned about the reactions of grown-ups or other people. They simply express on paper whatever arises spontaneously in their heart or mind, without forcing or faking anything and without worrying whether others will like it or not.
Similarly, when it comes to engaging in virtue, it is important that we do not act to please or impress anyone. Rather, we should be expressing whatever is pure and spontaneous in our heart and mind, without pretence, phoniness or hesitation. First, we bring forth whatever we find within ourselves that is beautiful and spontaneous, and only later do we consider whether it will be accepted or not. Otherwise, sometimes others have strong expectations and we might feel we will not be able to show them what we have that is beautiful. This is the feeling that comes.

You all are the source of my Joy and Happiness.
Let us make a resolve, that for every one negative action we commit of the body , speech and mind, we will intentionally do three positive deeds .
In other words , if you utter one negative sentence about me , you better praise me three times too. hahaha .
Much love to all .
Thank you for being a part of my life .
With My Warmest Affection,
ND

When we love others, we don't expect anything in return. We accept people for who they are and try to help them, but we aren't concerned with how we'll benefit from the relationship. Real love isn't jealous, possessive or limited to just a few near and dear ones. Rather, it's impartial and is felt for all beings. —Ven. Chodron in Buddhism for Beginners http://thubtenchodron.org/books/buddhism-for-beginners

“The great Kadampa masters of the past used games in training their minds. To play a game of mindfulness, they carried black and white stones to count the times they won or lost against their afflictions. Looking at the win-loss ratio was a way to get into positive habits. We must continually examine our minds since change will not happen by merely wishing things to be so. We need to put continued effort into seeing our mind clearly.”

AWAKENED

https://www.facebook.com/Gyalwang.Drukpa/photos/a.161438640562436.29564.114965271876440/1549870921719194/?type=3&notif_t=notify_me_page&notif_id=1497243038356371

AWAKENED

When illusion is gone, suffering disappears. When misunderstanding is gone, we are awakened. So we should have a drum all the time to wake us up, because we are constantly sleepy and ignorant. The time that we spend to be awake is so short and difficult to sustain, and the time that we keep ourselves busy, stressed and worried and desired about useless things is almost 90% of our life. Even if there is someone beating the drum for you, you don't even pay attention. Our life is gone like this. Life after life, we come back and keep missing many chances, doing the same illusive activities. Then, lives are like endless dreams or sometimes nightmares, even if we live a hundred lives, we will not be awakened. ~ The Gyalwang Drukpa

True Guru

"The true guru will never humiliate you, nor will he estrange you from yourself. He will constantly bring you back to the fact of your inherent perfection and encourage you to seek within. He knows you need nothing, not even him, and is never tired of reminding you. But the self-appointed guru is more concerned with himself than with his disciples" (Sri Nisargadatta Maharaj (1897-1981), I Am That,Dialogue 83, Dec. 18, 1971).

Many babas or fake teachers are powerful vampires with siddhis, feeding off the life-force of those around them, manipulating thoughts/kundalini through subjugation. This is pure deception; an act of being taken prisoner and not knowing it. There is a story about "An Astrologer who Fell into a Well" that is, a fable based on a Greek anecdote concerning the pre-Socratic philosopher Thales of Miletus. Actually, the story of Thales falling into a well while gazing at the stars was originally recorded in Plato's Theaetetus. The point is: How can you understand the world without knowing yourself first? Self-deception is easy and as alluring as the stars above us are, if you are only looking up you might miss that hole below you. Obstacles help clarify the path. As Dilgo Khyentse advised us: "When the world is filled with evils, place all setbacks on the path of liberation.

Please pray daily (The one below and the 7-Line Guru Rinpoche Prayer) to avert a nuclear war that might be started...
“A PRAYER TO AVERT NUCLEAR WAR"
by CHATRAL SANGYE DORJE RINPOCHE
[…] We are beings born at the sorry end of time;
An ocean of ill-effects overflow from our universally bad actions.
The forces of light flicker,
The forces of darkness, a demon army, inflames great and powerful men.
And they rise in conflict, armed with nuclear weapons
That will disintegrate the earth.
The weapon of perverse and errant intentions
Has unleashed the hurricane.
Soon, in an instant, it will reduce the world
And all those in it to atoms of dust.
Through this ill-omened devils' tool
It is easy to see, to hear and think about
Ignorant people, caught in a net of confusion and doubt,
Are obstinate and still refuse to understand.
It terrifies us just to hear about or to remember
This unprecedented thing.
The world is filled with uncertainty,
But there is no means of stopping it, nor place of hope,
Other than you, undeceiving Three Jewels and Three Roots,
If we cry to you like children calling their mother and father,
If we implore you with this prayer,
Do not falter in your ancient vows!
Stretch out the lightning hand of compassion!
Protect and shelter us defenseless beings, and free us from fear! […]

9 Dragons

Following the Live to Rescue Mobile Dog Clinic, the Drukpa nuns and local participants did three ceremonial kora (circumambulations) around the Swayambu Stupa, and began a cleaning sweep around Swayambunath. Countless bags of toxic plastic waste was removed from water sources, gutters, and living spaces -- an inspiring reminder to respect and care for all beings on our earth.
In a wonderful and heart-warming sign, a light rain and rainbow appeared over Swayambunath just as the participants completed the effort.
