Jamgön Mipham Rinpoche's Phurba placed in front of his mediation seat.

In order to avert negativities all practitioners from the various authentic traditions practice a gutor ritual for averting negativities for the coming year at the night preceeding the first day of the year.
For these rituals a phurba or phurba known in Sanskrit as Kila or Kilaya is used. Here, we have the sacred practice object used by the great Nyingma and Rime Master Jamgön Mipham Rinpoche, who often wore it around his neck while he was sitting on his meditation seat made of red cotton covered by a wild black jak's hide.
